Fixed Wiring
When the electrics fail in your home it can be a massive inconvenience. If it happens in your business, it can potentially cause significant loss of revenue. You can help to prevent this by undertaking regular testing and inspection, which we can do for you. This will highlight areas which may need looking at and areas which could cause problems in the future. Testing must be undertaken periodically to comply with health & safety and insurance requirements, so if you’re overdue please do give us a call.
Chapmans Electrical first opened it’s doors in 1925, making us one of the longest established retailers and electrical testing & inspection, maintenance and repair services in the region. Our core values of honesty, integrity, courtesy, quality and professionalism remain the same today as they were 90 years ago. We are still a family run business today, based in Cradley Heath in the Black Country, West Midlands.
Our reach extends to most areas around Birmingham and the West Midlands including Halesowen, Brierley Hill, Dudley, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Stourbridge, Shrewsbury, Worcester, Stoke, Walsall, Sutton Coldfield and Solihull to name but a few. If in doubt, just call.
Some of the electrical testing and inspection service we provide:
* Electrical safety testing
* Electrical safety certificates
* Electrical inspections and reports
* Electrical commissioning
* Fault finding and repairs
We also perform thorough electrical safety checks and safety certification on the internal fixed wiring in your premises including safety certificates for new installations and electrical inspection condition reports (EICR) which are recommended to be carried out at least every 10 years. If you’re a landlord, properties should be tested every 5 years or on change of tenancy. In case you’re wondering what happened to periodic inspection reports (PIR), in 2012 these were replaced with the new electrical inspection condition reports (EICR).
Each fitting is first visually inspected for damage and signs of wear e.g. sockets, light switches, light fittings etc. Each circuit then undergoes a series of tests to ensure the wiring is safe and that the circuit is wired correctly.
As you can see, we take electrical safety seriously and our engineers and technicians are trained to the highest standards and the latest BS 7671 IEE regulations, currently 17th edition. Chapmans is an NICEIC registered contractor and an active member of the ECA.
The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) is a body which regulates the training and work of electrical contractors, itself part of Electrical Safety First (formerly The Electrical Safety Council). Representing the best in electrical engineering and building services, the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) members undergo regular, rigorous technical assessments to ensure they carry out safe electrical work.
Call the professionals for all your electrical inspection and testing needs and arrange for a Chapmans engineer to visit you.
