Security lighting is one of the simplest ways to improve the security of your property. Security lights are normally fitted beyond the reach of possible intruders and are usually of a different type to regular household lighting. This means that if a security light does develop a fault it can be tricky to repair without the proper equipment and tools. Security lights can be activated by motion detectors or they may be linked in to a burglar or intruder alarm so they turn on when the alarm sounds or a CCTV installation so the cameras start recording when the light is activated. Security lights should have special sensors to ensure that they only come on when it is dark and maybe designed to come on in the evening when it gets dark and stay lit until it becomes lighter again in the morning.
