Emergency Lighting
Chapmans Electrical are your local emergency lighting experts, providing emergency and escape lighting design, specification, supply, installation, maintenance and repair services throughout the Birmingham and West Midlands region.
Established in 1925, Chapmans Electrical has been a leading light in the Birmingham and West Midlands region for 90 years. We started as a family business based in Cradley Heath in the Black Country, just outside Birmingham, and remain a family run company to this day, bringing with us those same core values for honesty, integrity and a commitment to providing a quality service to our customers. Chapmans has a huge amount of emergency lighting experience to draw upon and is truly a name you can trust.
Emergency lights must be installed in your premises for times when the normal lighting fails. This is usually thought to be when there is a fire and smoke to aid safe escape and reduce panic during the evacuation, but it is just as necessary when there is a power supply failure or power cut. The emergency lights should illuminate to highlight exit points and fire alarm call point or fire extinguishers. Emergency lights have their own power supply, often a battery in the light unit itself but on larger systems may use a central battery system and even make use of inverters.
A proper emergency lighting scheme has to take account of many factors, with measurements and calculations, so should not be improvised. Emergency lighting can be a legal requirement. There are also legal requirements regarding the positioning of emergency lighting, minimum light levels, measured in lux, their ongoing maintenance and regular testing.
At Chapmans we put our customer first. We will work with you to assess your needs, your premises and it’s usage, offering advice and guidance along the way, to design and specify the emergency and escape lighting scheme right for your situation and your budget. All our work and fittings will comply with British Standard BS5266-1:2011.
With your emergency lighting installed you should then consider routine testing, maintenance and repairs. These are all services which Chapmans Electrical can provide for you, either on an adhoc or contract basis. No emergency lighting scheme is too large or too small so please call.
